Sponsored Posts
Travel in 10 only accepts a limited number of sponsored posts, and to be excepted they must be a travel related product or service that fits with our theme of luxury and adventure travel, geared toward young working professionals and families.
For a sponsored article that you are contributing, Travel in 10 currently charges $360 (CND) for 24 months. If our team develops the content the charge is $600 (CND) for 24 months. In addition to being posted on our site, the post would also be promoted in a Tweet (@travein10) and on our associated Facebook page (www.facebook.com/travelin10).
Promotional posts should look similar in style and tone to the content that is already on the site (focused on luxury and adventure travel) and may be related to the travel service you wish to promote provided it is not overtly commercial. If a post does not meet the editorial style of the site we will not be able to publish it, but will provide feedback to ensure a post can be developed that will meet the site’s requirements. Keep in mind that Travel in 10 focuses on topics such as hip/stylish hotels, restaurants and events, providing insider tips ideally from someone who has been to the destination recently, rather than the usual suggestions that could be found in any guidebook. For example, content that would be suitable could be:
– A resort or hotel may be promoted through an article about the best (top 10) things to check out in the area surrounding the resort or hotel
– A holiday booking site may be promoted through an article about how to get to a great upcoming festival or event together with information on where to stay
– An airline may be promoted through an article about a undiscovered region that is getting more exposure due to a new route.
In general promotional articles accepted will fit the following criteria:
– Content must be unique, not published elsewhere, or republished in the future
– About destinations and things to do, not travel information or news
– Worldwide locations and European destinations are fine
– Personal in tone, and demonstrating personal knowledge of the destination
– Not too general – focus on a region or city rather than a country and about a single destination, rather than multiple destinations
– Feature things that are unusual, off the beaten track or that the average tourist would not find – particularly hip hotels, stylish restaurants, ect
– Often with a theme e.g. Secret places, markets, historic sites, family friendly
– Plenty of useful detail and information about the place, not too generic
– Articles will typically be be approximately 500 words long
– The article should not be specifically about the client services but may be on the theme of the type of holidays or travel services they offer
– The article may incorporate a few lines at the end of the article introducing the travel company’s services e.g. This article is brought to you by X company, the specialists in X holidays in X countries.
– Each promotional article needs to be illustrated by photographs provided by the travel company, normally between 3 and 6 photos may be used.
– Photographs must be correctly licensed for this kind of use and not subject to copyright restrictions
– Photos taken by the writer or from the travel company’s website and with permission to use are ideal
– If no photos are available from the routes above, it is possible to purchase royalty free photos from websites such as istockphoto
– All contributed posts must include at least one photo and it needs to be of similar style and quality to the other photos that appear on our site
Once received we will prepare the article for publication in an attractive way, with headings, photo captions, title tags, keywords etc to maximise search engine traffic and viewer interest, promotional articles will normally be published in the order received and with a maximum of one promotional or guest article biweekly
Once the article has been published, it will be promoted in the same way as any other of our posts, by using Twitter and Facebook as well as being available to our subscribers through our RSS feed. Prior to publication payment must be received via paypal. Within 1 week of payment the story will be posted and a linked will be emailed to you.
To comply with the US Federal Trade Commission Endorsement Guidelines, and in the interests of our readers, our site has a policy of disclosing any sponsorship received and to be transparent about any financial interest. Promotional Guest posts are always declared as such within the article, normally at the end of the article, for example; ‘This article is brought to you by X company, providers of (some details about the company or service)’
We hope that answers all of your questions and look forward to working together with you on upcoming projects.
